Explanation of Procedure for duty:

 1) The High Risk Assessment Form

a) Must be filled out seven days prior to requesting an Assignment to Duty.

b) Do not count the day it is filled out as one of the days. Start with the next day.

Part of the reason for this requirement is that there are only two staff members in the Diraux office each week, each covering a different day. Waiting a week means there will be time to review your form.

c) When this form is sent in, the subject matter should read as follows, so that the form can be placed in the proper pile for review:

Subject: High Risk Assessment Form

Submitted by: (Name of Member), (ID # if Member)

Date Submitted:

2) Assignment to Duty Request

a) All Assignment to Duty requests MUST GO THROUGH THE DIRAUX office by filling out the form online and sending it to: http://d11s.org/wp/assignment-to-duty/

b) The form must specify in detail

1) Who is doing the VE (only one person, the applicant)

2) What the VE will be doing (Vessel exams)

3) Where the exam(s) will be conducted (e.g., location of ramp, mooring, residence of owner, etc.)

4) When (Date or Dates) the exams will be conducted

5) Times during which the exams will be conducted

6) Note that one Assignment to Duty can cover multiple days and/or Different locations.

7) Lacking any of this detail, it is likely the request will fail.

3) Completion of Exams

1) Only one Vessel Examiner can work at one location at a time;

- In other words, two or more examiners cannot work together at the same location at the same time (e.g., boat ramp or dockside)

- If multiple moorings are involved on the same day, two or more Examiners cannot work together or be at the same place at the same time (e.g, at dockside or in the same boat taxi

2) Vessel examiners can not be in uniform (Trops or ODUs) and should not wear an official uniform hat. A Vessel Examiner polo shirt can be worn and is not considered an official uniform. Unofficial hats or other USCGAUX insignia wear are greatly discouraged. Your ID card will adequately represent your official standing in the USGAUX

3) All PPE gear must be worn..mask and gloves.

4) Social Distancing must be maintained

5) You cannot board the Owner’s vessel. The owner can take photos on anPhone of elements to be examined which cannot be observed from off vessel and send them to you, or as second choice, hand you the Phone. Your gloves will protect you.

6) You may conduct exams only upon receiving your confirmed order.
